Phi Lamb Phlag Phootball is done.  We lost tonight, but it was fun.  I had an interception... kind of ridiculous if you ask me. The team did so well this season, though!

I'm not as sad that we lost as that we don't get to play again, we were having so much fun. But volleyball starts next week (and heaven knows i'm worse at that than football)!!

Last-night mania is keeping me up thinking about anything and everything and wishing and hoping for so much more than I ever have before.

over and out.

What an amazing weekend!!  Seeing old friends is one of the most wonderful things in the world!

Oh, how I've missed you Catherine!

And there's nothing like hanging out with the girls... plus one guy... who we were certainly glad showed up!

Then, I found an old old old friend who I hadn't seen since the 7th grade... it was so great to catch up!

(I'm not entirely sure why I hunched my shoulders all up like that... but hey, whatever)

The hottest new look for Fall 2005:

I'm not really sure what to call it or how to describe it without a demo, but rest assured we occupied ourselves with it for quite a while!

As you can see above, I looked possessed whenever I did it, so I decided to try on my own again today... and had a little more success...

After all that fun, it was time to hit the road:

you might not be able to see it in the pic, but the truck in front of me had two ginormous moose heads in it!

Oh, and I got my first flat tire today... not exactly fun, but a big thanks to all the strangers who stopped to help and to Bill's Discount Tires for being open on Sunday!

I don't think banks (on the whole) today are acting within an acceptable code of business ethics...

and that's all I'm going to say about that.

I guess the Lord saw fit to withhold judgement from Sodom on the Brazos*.  We escaped without so much as a drop of rain in Waco.  I bet all those people who bought absurd amounts of water and flashlights and batteries are feeling a little silly now...

I have never witnessed such a sight in my life. I walked into Wal*Mart last Wednesday with the intention of looking for the new InStyle and maybe to buy a gallon of water to help my mom feel at ease with me facing the "impending weather."  I, however, was not able to buy either, as the new magazine was yet to be released (no worries, I found it this weekend) and all the water was to be found in the carts of panicking moms who were also grabbing numerous loaves of white bread and hugging economy size jars of peanut butter.  Not to mention all the paper plates and plastic cups, what was that about?  People were snapping up sleeping bags left and right.  I could be wrong, but I think camping is a bad idea in the midst of a hurricane... they surely wouldn't need them inside their suburban homes filled with pillows and comforters and throws...

                                                  Selfishness is downright evil.

It's not just withholding from others or putting your own needs ahead of others, but really it's the act of believing that your desires are the only thing that matters.  Everyone else's needs are pushed out of our minds to make room for thoughts of all that we could have or should have or would have.  I see it so much in myself, in how we relate to others and in the state of the world today.  Selfishness is a springboard into so much more wrong.  We can't go on living being concerned only with how a situation makes us feel, how we can come out on top or make ourselves look more appealing in the eyes of others.  I hate it.

It's time to shift the paradigm.

* don't even get me started on 'serious' theories regarding the Lord's wrath materializing in the earth's weather patterns.
